Born and raised in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand I have always been
interested in the night sky. After joining the Phoenix Astronomical Society in
1998 I become a keen astrophotographer and built a small roll-off
roof observatory in my backyard. I regularly give talks about various aspects
astrophotography and was also involved in the construction of
Stonehenge-Aotearoa.
I enjoy capturing wide field images particulary of the southern night sky as well the occasional Aurora Australis.
Many of my images have been used in books, magazines, multimedia presentations, television, exhibitions and various publications world wide.
Clear Skies,
Chris Picking
