The yellow arrow shows the movement of asteroid 4 Vesta over the 2 nights,(8 and 9 Sept 2004).
The green arrow shows the movement of the much fainter asteroid 9 Metis over the same period.

A main belt asteroid Vesta's diameter is 525 kilometres and it has a rotation period of 5.34 hours.
